SWIFT CREEK-NORTH BIG HOLE-NEEDLE CREEK

These three small roadless areas all border the Anaconda-Pintler Wilderness and provide trail access to the boundary. Unfortunately, none of the trails are currently protected from motorized use which only further invites illegal incursions into the Wilderness. All of these roadless areas score moderate to high on the Bitterroot National Forest’s Wilderness quality ranking, but only the Needle Creek IRA and Swift Creek IRA are being proposed for Wilderness by the agency.
